We Got Approved!!
Adam and I have applied for a loan in order to purchase a home together and on Friday 2/23/07, we were approved for $250,000.00. Yes, it's a huge step and we are..well I should say, I am a bit nervous about it. It's a huge commitment which I am happy to make but the search for a house it harder that expected. Adam and I have only agreed on one house out of 20-30 that we have looked at. He's pretty calm about it, saying "We'll find the right one in time." on the other hand, I'm a bit frantic. I guess that's just the way I am. If any one has advice... please give it!

Take your time. You'll find a house that you will like, if not love. Don't let a realtor pressure you into getting a house that is more than you can afford. Take a good long look at what you can actually afford AND still have money to save for kids, retirement and your future.
Househunting and getting a loan is very stressful. Take time to remember what you're aiming for in the long run, instead of fighting over something that doesn't matter. Pay attention to the location of your home since you're still young, and this is probably not going to be your last home.

Wow, congratualtions. I am really happy for you and hope the two of you find a great place.
Make sure to do a very solid inspection. Paying special attention to the roof, (a often very expensive thing to replace, the Seattle house cost 9K), plumbing, wiring, and foundation. Also we had rats in the Seattle house and they were a real pain, check the attic and crawl spaces for rodent activity and moisture.
