Post Delivery

I was a bit anxious to leave the hospital since I had yet to master the art of breast feeding. Isabella had problems initially latching on and I feared that going home would not allow me the support I had at the hospital. I also feared that I may not be able to produce enough milk for her.
Luckily, I was only discouraged for one day. The first night was the most challenging with Isabella crying from 12am to 3am. We ended up giving her some formula from a dropper to take the edge off. It worked. Thank goodness for those free samples in the mail. The next day, she was feeding like a champ and as my milk came in, it has been easy. We started her on a sleep schedule and it has been working well. She is even sleeping longer.

My sister told me all the horrific things that follow delivery and I am grateful that I did not have too many issues. The most painful was the cramping due to breastfeeding, my uterus contracting and the lower back pain from the epidural and the swelling in my feet. I had marshmallow toes for about 3 days. It made walking painful.

Talk about fat feet.
It is now day six and I feel great. I often stare at Isabella in amazement. It is hard to believe I am a mom and that I helped in the creation of this little angel. We are truly grateful that she is healthy. We are so in love with her.
