So what if I live in the country.

So I spoke with Dad last weekend and we talked about things I did here in Reno.. In the end, Dad responded with " You live a country life." and it's true. Camping, fishing and hunting. I was a bit disturbed by his comment because I always wanted both of each world. The quiet serene life and yet the hustle and bustle. I do get some hecticness from work and do come home to water the plants and looking at the mountains around our home. here are some pics of the latest camping trip, we camped next to a river where we were able to fish but didn't catch anything and pull crawdads from the river.

Memorial Weekend

We spent the weekend at Frenchman's Lake (California), Ad's friend's mother owns about 7 acres of property and we stayed two nights. It was great because it was just a group of us without worries of intrusion. We were able to walk down to the creek and roam. Downside, we only brought one blanket and although the days were around 80 degrees, the night was around 40 degrees. Luckily, there were extra blankets or else we would have gone home. Don't worry Gina, we will be prepared.

I cooked dinner both nights plus one breakfast, Travis' mother (owner of the property) came the second night and we had fresh biscuits and gravy for breakfast the next morrning. Yum!! Cooking on an open fire has never been a problem thanks to island cooking... We had shortribs, steak and even mashed potatoes. Breakfast was bacon, sausage, potatoes and eggs.. the all american meal. Oh.. let's not forget. Finadene' and they loved it.

Getting one with nature.

So this summer, Gina, her family, plus her nephew, G, (only cause I can't spell it) and Tia will be visiting us in Reno and we have decided to make it a big camping weekend with some good ole' fashion cooking over the campfire, hiking and fishing. Ad and i love being outdoors and here are some pictures from a hike about a month ago and a fishing trip we did for his brother's, Dave, birthday.

L-R: 55 degrees, 2 miles, uphill. Snow in April.
